Facial & Cosmetic Care — FAQ
1. What do you assess before recommending care?
We look at facial balance, jaw tension, puffiness, skin texture, and any visible side-to-side differences. When facial tension or heaviness appears connected to the neck or scalp, we may assess those areas as well.
2. What is microneedling (MTS)?
Microneedling — sometimes called MTS — uses very fine needles to create controlled microchannels in the skin, activating the body's natural repair and collagen-remodelling process. It's generally used for uneven texture, post-acne marks, fine lines, and enlarged pores.
3. How do you choose between facial acupuncture and microneedling?
It depends on what we find during assessment. Facial acupuncture tends to be better suited for jaw tension, facial imbalance related to muscle tension, puffiness, and a tired or strained appearance. Microneedling is usually the better fit when skin texture, post-acne marks, fine lines, or pore size are the main concern. Some patients benefit from both.
4. Can facial acupuncture help with facial imbalance?
It may, when the visible difference is influenced by jaw clenching, uneven muscle tension, puffiness, or tension in the neck and scalp. Facial acupuncture doesn't change bone structure, so we assess what may be contributing to the asymmetry before making any recommendation.
5. What else can facial acupuncture help with?
It may be appropriate for jaw and facial tension, morning puffiness or facial heaviness, forehead and scalp tension, a tired or strained appearance, and side-to-side differences related to muscle tension. Treatment is always selected according to your individual pattern.
6. How many sessions will I need?
It depends on your main concern and how your face or skin responds. Facial acupuncture typically begins with weekly sessions over several weeks. Microneedling sessions are spaced farther apart to allow the skin time to recover and remodel. After your first assessment, we'll be able to recommend a clearer starting plan.
7. Is there any downtime?
Facial acupuncture usually involves little downtime, though temporary redness or minor bruising can occur. After microneedling, the skin may look red and feel warm, dry, or sensitive for several days — recovery time varies depending on treatment depth and individual skin sensitivity.
8. What if I recently had Botox, fillers, laser treatment, or surgery?
Please let us know before your appointment. Recent cosmetic procedures may affect the timing, treatment area, or technique we use, and treatment may need to be postponed until the area has healed or your cosmetic provider has confirmed it's appropriate to proceed.
